Bagrationi 1882

APPELLATION Atenuri (Kartli/Shida Kartli),

The name of JSC Bagrationi 1882 refers to the Georgian prince, Ivane Bagrationi-Mukhraneliis, who started producing Georgian sparkling wines using the French method of second fermentation in bottles in the middle of the 19th century. In 1882, his production received its first worldwide recognition and won the Grand Prix at an International Exhibition in St. Petersburg. Bagrationi 1882 owns its own vineyards within Georgia's most prestigious wine districts Imereti, Kakheti, and Kartli. Recently, its winemaking facilities have been completely updated and equipped with advanced Italian winemaking technology. Gia Gabunia is Bagrationi 1882’s master wine maker. Hilarius Puetz, the winery production manager, has over 30 years of experience in the European wine industry and is responsible for cultivation and all wine production. Today, after 125 years, JSC Bagrationi 1882 is the most popular sparkling wine producer, not only on the local market but throughout the entire Caucasus as well.
