The Badagoni wine company story starts in 2006 in the heart of Georgian wine-making - Kakheti region, village of Zemo Khodasheni. Through years we have enjoyed outstanding success with a range of site-specific local wines, that are among the best in Georgia. Following the unique Georgian traditions of winemaking and at the same time using the most advanced technologies and scientific knowledge existing in the wine industry, the company was growing year by year and today we can state rather boldly that Badagoni has the most advanced winery in the whole Eastern Europe.
We are proud of having own vineyards in every micro-zone of Kakheti region that enables us to produce high quality Georgian wines.
We are honored to introduce Dr. Donato Lanati as Badagoni major enologist. Dr. Lanati is listed among the world’s top five enologists and also owns the highest international award in winemaking – “Oscar del Vino”. Besides the professional work, Dr. Lanati is a huge supporter of the company and a true member of the Badagoni family.
Wide range of our products comprises steal wine, sparkling wine and Chacha. All of these products are made only from Georgian grape varieties. Among the wines of Badagoni there are the ones made with the Georgian traditional winemaking method and the ones made with the European winemaking method. One of the most special wines is “Alaverdi Tradition,” which is made in the Alaverdi monastery wine cellar built in 9th century and restored with the support of Badagoni in 2006.
Badagoni owns unique production equipment produced by famous Italian companies "Bertolaso" and "enotec". Badagoni unique bottling line can produce 6000 bottles of steal and sparkling wine per hour while maintaining the same high quality, so, there does not exist any order that we cannot meet.
Badagoni is the place where unique Georgian traditions and the modern world meet each other and merge harmoniously and as a result enables us to produce great Georgian wine. Thus, we hope the story that started in 2006, will continue forever.
The place where grape is transformed into an excellent wine must to be special. This very idea was a cornerstone for the people who in 2006 founded “Badagoni” winery.
Badagoni owns two wineries on the Kakhetian fertile land - one is situated in Akhmeta region, village Zemo Khodasheni and the second one is in Sagarejo region, village Manavi. While constructing the wineries Badagoni management team was actively cooperating with the worldwide famous experts. The winery buildings, equipment and the laboratory fully meet the ISO standards.
It is to be mentioned, that Badagoni winery situated in Akhmeta is the one equipped with the most advanced technologies not only in Georgia, but in whole Eastern Europe. It is equipped with the newest and unique microfiltration and bottling systems, created and installed by the leading Italian companies “Bertolaso” and “Enotec,” exclusively for “Badagoni.” Both of them ensure food safety, exclude oxygen leak and prevent any contact with iron, that is vital for transmission of organoleptic characteristics into the wine. Both systems of the winery represent the maximum of the technological possibilities existing throughout the world nowadays. Microfiltration of wines and bottle washwater runs in automatic mode. Wine goes through many filters, thus preventing ingress of any bacteria, yeast or microbes in the final product.
The equipment is manufactured especially for “Badagoni” with the direct supervision of Doctor Donato Lanati and it is prohibited to make its analogue. We transfer all the virtues of grape into the wine bottle while avoiding unnecessary manipulations. Following this approach, we create outstanding wines that gain international acknowledgement year by year.
Badagoni winery situated in Manavi village is also equipped with the advanced technologies. Its bottling line and other equipment are produced also by Italian companies and makes possible to process 250 tonnes of grape. Both wineries are equipped with the stainless steel enfolded reservoirs, vinificators and horizontal autoclaves. It allows us to run the fermentation and vinification processes on professional level and produce excellent wines and sparkling wines. Badagoni wines are matured in French oak barrels situated in a wine cellar clad with 300 years old Georgian bricks. Resuming all the above mentioned, we claim to be a winery respecting old Georgian traditions and at the same time having the most innovative approaches and passion for advanced technologies.
Laboratory analysis in “Badagoni” start with the soil and are applied at each step of winemaking. In order to get a perfect final product, every wine is a subject of detailed tests and examinations.
Factory’s facilities include the high-tech laboratory, equipped with the most advanced machinery of Anton Paar and Gibertini, pH meter, nephelometer, spectrophotometer, Babo refractometer, microscope, thermostat and box ultraviolet lamp. Various studies are held in the laboratory, including microbiological research and tartar and protein stabilization analysis of wine. The laboratory setting includes Oenofoss laboratory device, which can measure several parameters in a minute: sugar, alcohol, pH, volatile and total acidity and etc.
At the same time “Badagoni” cooperates with the leading international research center “Enosis Meraviglia” (Italy), lead by Doctor Donato Lanati. Final inspection of each product is made at the “Enosis” laboratory and only after that is placed on the shelf.
It is impossible to make high quality wine without fertile soil and proper micro-climate. So, we are proud of having our own vineyards located in every micro-zone of Kakheti region - very heart of Georgian wine-making, up to 400 ha in total. According to the recommendations of Badagoni major enologist Doctor Donato Lanati, there is permanently conducted control and analysis of our vinyards as with the means of Badagoni local laboratory as well as International research centre "Enosis Meraviglia". Accurately cherished vineyard has the highest value for the wine-maker and is the first step towards making the good wine.

Grape variety - Saperavi
Alluvial, Strongly calcareous soil, 78-83 % Clay texture, The organic matter(4) average content. Strong alkali-8.5, Slightly skeletal soil.
Micro zone - Mukuzani
Grape variety - Saperavi
Mukuzani zone is represented Meadow Brown, Alluvial soils. Alkali 7.99-8.33, Average or strong calcareous soils CaCO3=8.44-10.90% Distinguished skeletal.
Micro zone – Kindzmarauli
Grape variety – Saperavi
This soil is not carbonated. It is characterized by a weak alkaline reaction 7,5-7,7, Organic substances 3-3.8 totals. It has high quality wine-making potential of the material, strongly skeletal.
Micro zone - Tsinandali
Grape variety – Rkatsiteli
The soil is characterized by a strong alkaline reaction 8,5, Strongly calcareous 10-12%, organic substances, high number of existence 2.5-2.8%. Average skeletal.
Characterized by organic substances with a high content 3.2-3.8. Meadow brown, alluvial soils.
Grape varieties: Alaverdi Temple-Saperavi, vill. Alaverdi-Saperavi,vill. Khorkheli-Saperavi,vill. Maghraani-Saperavi and Kisi,vill. Magraani, Head-Saperavi,vill. Alvani-Saperavi,vill. Ojio-Saperavi
Alaverdi adjacent 24 ha, 26 ha vineyard in the village of Alaverdi, Village khorkheli 30 ha, Village Magraani 28.5 ha, Village Magraani 9 ha.
These soils are characterized by a light mechanical composition, natural clay percentage 63-67% of these soils. Strong alkali soils in a reaction, which varies up to 8.43 from 8.54. Strong carbonate soils. Grafted onto rootstock of the carbonate-bearing, therefore the disease is out of chlorosis in soils (24,26,30 ha).
Grape variety – Saperavi
This soil is characterized by a weak alkali reaction, 8.32-8.40 %. Organic substance has a high then average 3.6.
Micro zone - Manavi
Grape variety - Rkatsiteli and Kakhetian Mtsvane
Very strongly calcareous soils 25.77-27.55 The same situation as Khorkheli and Alaverdi nearby. Carbonates resistant rootstock is grafted vines because of the insured chlorosis. Organic substances more high then average 3.4-4. Soil solution concentration - alkaline reaction.
